Mexican Postpartum ceremony - Closing the bones
Also known as La Cerrada or postpartum closing, this is a traditional Postpartum Mexican Ritual offered after birth to support emotional integration, physical grounding, and the transition into motherhood.
Rooted in ancestral Mexican traditions, this ceremony honors the postpartum period as a sacred threshold. In Mexican wisdom, a birthing mother passes through a powerful transformation — one that deserves time, care, and closure. During the first 40 days after birth, known as la cuarentena, she is meant to be held, nourished, and deeply honored.
This is more than a treatment — it is a rite of passage. Through traditional massage, healing herbs, ritual touch, and rebozo closing, the ceremony offers emotional release, physical renewal, and deep integration after birth.

The Closing the Bones Ceremony (also known as La Cerrada) is a traditional Mexican postpartum ritual offered in Denmark to support emotional healing, physical integration, and closure after birth.
Why it matters?
The Closing Ceremony is not just symbolic — it is deeply personal and transformative. It marks the closing of birth and the transition into motherhood. By slowing down, honoring your experience, and reconnecting with your center, you invite healing, balance, and integration into your postpartum period.
As a Mexican doula, this is one of the most meaningful services I offer. Every element of the ceremony is adapted to your unique needs — honoring your body, your birth experience, and your personal story.
During the ceremony, you are gently guided through:
֍ Traditional Cacao Drink: Enjoy a nourishing cacao drink made from my family’s recipe and traditionally used to support grounding, emotional warmth, and postpartum nourishment.
֍ Therapeutic Massage: A warm, intentional massage using my exclusive Mexican-Scandinavian herbal oil and tonic spray, designed to support postpartum recovery, relaxation, and emotional release.
֍ Herbal Bath & Meditation: A soothing herbal bath combined with gentle guided meditation to restore strength, invite softness, and support nervous system regulation after birth. I use my own exclusive Mexican–Scandinavian herbal blend.
֍ Closing with Rebozos: The signature closing ritual using traditional Mexican rebozos — a gentle yet powerful practice that symbolically and physically supports closure, grounding, and the transition into motherhood.

After giving birth, I engaged her for a Closing Ceremony, an experience that's truly beyond words.
This ceremony has Mexican roots and is designed to help process the birth experience and reconnect with our bodies and selves.
Lili meticulously follows each step of the ritual, ensuring comfort and care throughout. Additionally, she is an attentive listener, helping you navigate and process any challenging parts of the birth experience.
She also offers a soothing massage and uses rebozos to provide a comforting embrace. I would recommend this experience to all postpartum mothers.
